Today very few options exist for RV shoppers to get quotes an RVs from a single source. Potential buyers have few options: visit a dealership, tradeshow, or shop more than one dealership website.
I was invested early on in this project from conception to end. I conducted research regarding the problem space, conducted interviews, mapped my findings, created personas, sketched out my vision, wireframed, and finally creating high fidelity mockups to prototyping.
The solution is to provide a single platform for consumers interested in shopping exclusively for any type of RV being offered by RV dealerships. Continued tests will be run with users to expand features and keep the consumer happy so that they continue to use the platform.
Qualitative research was performed at the onset of the process in the form of screener surveys and user interviews. I then synthesized the research in the form of an affinity map, empathy map, and user personas
Affinity Map of the three major themes from the user interviews I conducted.
A User Flow is a journey that takes the user on a path from point "A" to point "B" toward the desired outcome.
After designing my sketches, I conducted gorilla tests in search of any pain points that as the biased designer I may have missed.
Most of the users tested understood the flow of my sketches. The users I tested had the most confusion with what hand icon represented on the right of the bottom navigation.
Wireframes are the simplified, bare bones of a design. Wireframes give designers a loose idea of where everything will eventually be placed in the final design
I created my wireframes from my sketches. I one item I added was adding copy labels to the bottom navigation.
I designed the app to be accessible to RV shoppers from the people who want to buy a camper to those who want to dish out more for a motorhome. To achieve this I added text labels to the bottom nav button and the filter icon. i also used larger and wider buttons.
I derived my inspiration from an app called Outdoorsy which is similar to an AirBnB but for people who want to rent RVs. I also borrowed inspiration of UI elements particularly on the listings page from a popular home browsing app, Realtor.com.
I had an idea early on that I wanted to use greens, yellow, greys and whites for my design. Green represents growth and harmony while yellows bring joy and excitement. Grey tends to be complimentary color that allows other colors to shine. Color contrast tests were performed to be sure they met the ADA compliance standard.
